BREAKING!! 124 new Coronavirus cases confirmed in Kenya

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe on Thursday announced that 124 more patients had tested positive for COVID-19 from 2,640 samples tested in the last 24 hours.

This brings the total tally to 2,340 confirmed Covid-19 cases from 87,693 samples.

Out of the 124, 119 were Kenyans, 2 Tanzanians, and 1 Eritrean. The figures do not include foreigners tested at the border, who were turned away from entering into Kenya. Out of the 124 new cases, 100 were males and 24 were females.

The CS further stated that 39 patients had since been discharged from various health centers, hence the total number of recoveries now stands at 592.

“I want to thank Kenyans who have taken the containment measures seriously and followed them strictly. I appeal to those who haven’t joined us in this war to do so,” he stated.

Sadly, the CS stated that there have been 4 patients that died in the last 24 hours bringing the tally of fatalities to 78.

CS Kagwe added that the government had disbursed the Ksh.5 billion conditional grant to all 47 Counties to boost Covid-19 response and preparedness.

“The reason is that it is now up to the county government to utilize these funds to ensure our hospitals are adequately equipped and our health workers are catered for,” the CS stated.

“I want to extend my appreciation to all who have stood with us and cooperated with the government in the last months. I know it has not been easy as businesses have been affected and our life turned upside down. This disease has tested our resolve but it has not managed to break our resilience,” CS Kagwe said.
