Allan Makana caused a stir after the death of the third president of Kenya Mwai Kibaki claiming that he is his distant grandchild.
Makana caused a scene at the parliament building on Tuesday April 27,2022 by wailing uncontrollably over the death of the former head of state.
The middle aged man went ahead and removed his pink hood, remaining bare-chest while begging to be allowed to view the body of Kibaki. He was however restricted by guards as he could not be allowed to view the body in his ‘wild’ state.
He further claimed to be distantly related to Kibaki saying that he has been looking for him over the years. He knew Kibaki in 2002.
As if that was not enough, Makana showed up at Kibaki’s requiem mass on April 29, 2022 at Nyayo stadium.
His presence was noticed when he approached the podium and asked Archbishop Anthony Muheria to allow some minutes to make a few remarks, moments after president Kenyatta had finished giving his speech.
““Allow me just two minutes to make a few remarks,” Makana requested. He was however whisked away by security guards as the clergyman asked them to treat him well.
“”He is a Kenyan and a son of our nation. He is emotional at the loss of our President. Treat him well,” Muheria said.
Makana hails from Marakaru area, Kanduyi constituency in Bungoma county. His mother is known as Concepta Makana. His father’s name has not been made public yet but he died in 2010, leaving the mother as the family’s breadwinner. He is born in a family of 8
According to Concepta, his son left home for Nairobi in 2016, after finishing his form four examinations.
“My son left home in 2016 after completing his secondary education in 2015 at Sikusi boys high school, he told me that he is going to look for a job,” she told The Star.
He managed to score a C+ in the KCSE 2015 examination. He returned home in 2018 with some of his colleagues believed to be actors.
Makana was initially an actor since primary school and after form four, he landed a job at Pome Africa Productions whereby they would act the high school set books.
It is not clear whether he still acts because currently he works for an Indian businessman and stays in Pipeline, Nairobi.
Concepta also said that Makana is not related to Kibaki in any manner but he calls him grandfather out of respect
