If Luck Was A Person! Full List Of Polycarp Igathe’s High Profile Jobs That Has Left Kenyans Startled

Date:

Social media went wild after a report emerged that Polycarp Igathe had been appointed as the CEO of Rubis energy.

The information purportedly from NTV came just a day after it was reported that Rubis CEO Jean-Christian Bergeron had been deported over economic sabotage. Apparently, the oil marketer was hoarding fuel amid shortages thus paralyzing transportation.

Igathe’s appointment however turned out to be fake after NTV clarified the information. Rubis is yet to issue a communication regarding their next CEO.

The former Nairobi deputy governor is however believed to be the luckiest person in Kenya because he is always changing high profile jobs like clothes and most people admire and wish to be like him.

Some say that he is well connected and that is why jobs keep following him as he resigns from others.

The  businessman-cum politician is the current CEO of Equity Group holdings. In 1995, after graduating from UoN with a Bachelor’s of Arts and Sociology, Igathe landed a job in Australia at the Queens Health in Australia as the finance officer and served for one and a half a year before returning to the country.

In Kenya, he first worked at Coca cola until 2000. He then proceeded to Africa Online as the sales and marketing manager. After that he landed a Sales Operations manager role at the Kenya Breweries and was promoted to the marketing manager.

In 2003, Igathe was hired as the  Vice President in charge of sales and marketing at Vivo energy. He later joined Chris Kirubi’s company, Haco Investments where he worked for 10 years. Their relationship was so strong that people concluded he was Kirubi’s ‘other’ son. The truth of the matter is that he was born and raised from a humble background in Ruiru.

Between 2012-2014, the 50-year old served as the chairman of Kenya Association of Manufacturers and chaired the petroleum Institute of Africa from 2014-2016. Within the same period, served as the Director and Trustee of the Kenya Private Sector Alliance. He is also the chairman and member of the Board of Management of Bishop Gatimu Ngandu Girls High School as from 2010.

In 2015, President Uhuru Kenyatta appointed Igathe to serve as chair of the Anti-Counterfeit Agency for a year after which he was appointed the chairman of Special Economic Zones Authority of Kenya in October 2016.

In May 2017, he resigned as the Managing Director of Vivo energy and was later appointed as the Deputy governor of Nairobi county, a position he left in January 2018 citing mistrust from his boss Mike Sonko.

In May 2018, Igathe joined Equity as the Chief Commercial officer and in September,  he was promoted to the Managing Director position.

Igathe is married to Clare and they are blessed with three children.
