Migori governor Okoth Obado is on the spot after a clinical officer who testified in his murder case went missing.
Cliff Momanyi from Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital appeared in court as a witness in the ongoing murder of Sharon Otieno, a Rongo University student and her unborn child which occurred in September 2018.
The medic testified on Wednesday where by he told the court that he faked a medical report for Obado’s co-accused, Michael Oyamo, who happened to be his personal assistant.
He told the court that he filled a medical report for Oyamo who was not present. In one of the medical forms, he indicated that Oyamo was to be referred to Kisumu thus indicating that he was on a sick leave when Sharon was abducted.
Momayi’s family was however unaware that their kin had gone to Nairobi to testify in the murder case. According to his wife Mary Kimaiga, the clinical officer left their home in Kisii on Tuesday for Nairobi over work related issues.
Kimaiga only found out what her husband was involved in the highly sensitive matter through a newspaper with the help of a friend. The friend told her that she had seen her husband’s photo on The Standard with the report saying that he had testified in the case involving Obado.
His two colleagues at work were also surprised that he did not mention anything about the murder to them.
His wife was forced to file a missing person report when she failed to reach him on the phone and after he failed to arrive home. The phone signals were last traced in Bomet.
“My husband was supposed to come back on Wednesday night but he is not yet home at home, his phone indicates that he was last online at around 7.29 PM on Tuesday, as a family we are very much worried now that we know the matter he was involved in,” Kimaiga told The Standard
A number of netizens are now demanding Obado to release Momanyi as others hope that he has not been silenced like Sharon was.
It is alleged that Sharon was killed on orders from Obado, after she threatened to make public her affair with him. DNA samples proved that the child she was carrying was Obado’s.
