Concern As Most Kenyans Complain Of A Strange Flu

Date:

Most Kenyans have for the last few days registered their complaints about a strange flu that has been going around.

Laced with symptoms such as backache, blocked nose, headache, sore throat, chest pain, general body malaise and fever.

Below are a sample of Kenyans who registered their complaints:

“This flu is too much, i am feeling strange with my eyes paining and the flu is not just going down. What I am feeling in my throat is unexplainable. Who else has been feeling this?”

“I have been coughing and feeling cold for the last four days. To make it worse, my nose is blocked and the chest pain is also here to stay. Could this be the omicron virus we were told about by the ministry of health?”

“I recently received my second dose of the Covid-19 jab but this flu cannot just let me rest. I am feeling headache, zero appetite and my body is just weak. I am really worried because this has kept me grounded.”

“Wangwana mimi niko na homa na nimekuwa nikiumwa na kichwa plus kifua na throat yote. Nimemeza dawa lakini bado sioni change ju hi homa haipotei.”

It seems the flu complaints by a number of Kenyans in the social media attracted the attention of health Cabinet secretary Mr. Mutahi Kagwe who has so far addressed the issue.

The health cabinet secretary Mutahi Kagwe said that the government is doing all it can to manage the situation. He made these sentiments in Mombasa county in a short press briefing held on Wednesday.

“Kenyans should not be concerned yet…We must observe the civility of the flu, the hospitalisation and whether there are fatalities. So far, the statistics that we have should not cause any panic,” the CS stated.

On his side, Dr. Lukoye Atwoli who is a health expert urged Kenyans to fully observe the Covid-19 protocols issued by the health ministry, adding that the flu has symptoms similar to that of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Yes, it could be a seasonal flu. Just remember that SARS-COV-2 enters your system in exactly the same way as that bug. So your risk of getting Covid-19 is high if you get the bug,” Atwoli said.

“If you protect yourself adequately from COVID-19 you’ll probably be safe from the circulating respiratory bug as well!” he added.
