Musicians allied to Raila Odinga and William Ruto have released protest songs demonizing each other’s presidential contenders as the 2022 race hots up.
Kikuyu vernacular singer Kimani Wa Turraco was first to release anti-Raila song just as the ODM leader was making major charm offensive in Mt Kenya.
The Kikuyu vernacular singer has released a song demonizing the ODM leader with the intention of convincing Mt Kenya voters not to support his presidential bid.
Kimani Wa Turraco made a damning protest song of Raila dubbed ‘HAIWEZEKANI RAILA IS BIG NO’ which was released on YouTube on Sunday November 7th.
The song was released a day after Raila pulled mammoth crowds during his tour of Nyandarua county on November 6th.
Kimani Wa Turraco used snapshots of Raila’s rallies in Nyandarua county in his song to dissuade Mt Kenya voters from supporting the former Prime Minister.
“Is there an elder who will come out and warn our people that the direction they are taking will land them in deep hole…What has changed now that we are being told to follow this man when we have always been told to avoid people from the lake-side since they go nuts,” Kimani Wa Turraco sung.
Another musician by the name Okoth Vicky has followed in Kimani Wa Turraco’s footsteps and released anti-Ruto song dubbed ‘Karibu Mwizi’ (Welcome thief).
In his song, Okoth Vicky castigates Ruto for being a thief as he mentions some of the corruption scandals that the DP was implicated in.
It appears as if Vickly’s song was hurried composed as it features clips of Ruto’s December 7th visit in Laikipia county where a baby refused to take the DP’s handout and supporters of of former Mungiki leader Maina Njenga caused havoc in nearly all stopover forcing the DP to angrily slam them.
