The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga has vehemently denied asking Kenyans to pay for 1 million Kenya shillings for a plate of food.
According to Raila Oding’a office under the leadership of his spokesman Dennis Onyango, the information originated from an unknown source since the Orange Office never produced it.
The information was recently shared by close allies of Raila Odinga such as the Embakasi East member of parliament Babu Owino and Homabay woman rep Gladys Wanga.
Put to task by Nation to explain why his close allies shared the posters, Denni Onyango told the publication to call those leaders.
“Did we announce a dinner? Kindly check with them.” Responded Denis Onyango.
On his side, Embakasi legislator Babu Owino when asked claimed that the dinner event had to be pushed forward because of the huge number of people that showed interest in attending the same, adding that the venue was too small.
“Due to unanticipated overwhelming support, the dinner has been postponed to a later date for better planning. Apologies for the inconveniences caused.” Wrote Babu on his social media handle.
In the meantime, various Kenyans took offence with the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga with regards to the alleged scheduled dinner at Kempinski hotel.
Apparently, Raila Odinga had organized a dinner on 7th December 2021 and was to charge one million Kenya shillings for every person attending.

Kenyans expressed mixed reactions with regards to the amount charged. Below is how they reacted:
“This dinner could have been done probably in Turkana county and then the funds help dig dams to curb the drought prevalence experienced in the area and save lives.”
“This Guy is extremely mean when Ruto is paying back 77 times yeye hata Ile ya kazi kwa vijana hawezi toa mpaka mchango useless old man bondo express.”
“Lanes! Mimi a million naskianga tu, my meal on a lucky day when I’m out is “chapati nyeshea’ yaani two chapos na soup and I call it lunch? for real I don’t know the direction where some people face while praying ? oh God, remember me.”
“In that plate, let there be hidden car keys mixed up with the food. Otherwise I’ll eat my CNN pale kibandasky, the bottom up way.”
“Raila should not vie if he is not ready to use his own money. Let him leave this thing for Ruto.”

“Kweli mwenye shibe hamjui mwenye njaa. What if he started an initiative to raise funds for those who are facing hunger and starvation from the wrangles of drought. Where is compassion and kindness or it is in the 6k monthly stipend promise. Earth is HARD!”
