Dancehall lovers have launched an onslaught against Eric Omondi after it was revealed that Jamaican superstar Konshens will no longer perform in Nairobi and Mombasa as planned.
Eric has been trending on social media for a while now, he has been calling on Kenyan musicians to be paid better.
The comedian said artists would be agitating for better pay at events and demanded that they get the same amount for curtain-raising as foreign acts are paid.
He also added that he wanted the Kenyan media to be compelled to play 75 per cent Kenyan content.
“All local media to play 75 per cent of local music just like it is in Nigeria, South Africa, Ghana, Zimbabwe and the list goes on and on.”
On Tuesday November 16th, Eric Omondi was arrested after attempting to storm Parliament buildings.
The same Tuesday evening, dancehall superstar Konshens announced that he might not perform in Kenya as planned.
” Kenya. just got an update from my team, its not looking good,” Konshens tweeted.

The update is not complete. Our artist are asking for 75% airplay of Kenyan music in the local Kenyan radio and televisions. So that when you get here, you can also get to hear what we have. There is nothing to worry about. The stage is set

Konshens further said that he was ready for the deals to be finalized, adding that he would like to perform at two cities while in Kenya – Nairobi and Mombasa.
The ‘Bruk off yah back’ hitmaker last performed in the country in September 2019, at an event held at the Ngong Racecourse that was filled to capacity.
That was his second performance in Kenya. The Jamaican Dancehall superstars has thousands of loyal fans in the country, this explains the anger Kenyans are expressing towards Eric Omondi.
