Saumu Mbuvi, Mike Sonko’s daughter has revealed that her baby daddy’s father was allegedly shot while trying to beat the curfew restrictions.
In a hard-hitting Instagram post, Saumu Mbuvi demanded kindness and restraint from police officers after calling out unnecessary brutality. The mother of two said cases of abuse from uniformed officers were getting out of hand by the day and they needed to stop immediately.
The annoyed 24-year-old said authorities were drunk with power and could not stop themselves from harassing innocent citizens. “Police brutality must and should stop. We are tired. Stop taking advantage of your power to intimidate innocent citizens,” the mother of two bellowed. Saumu who is in a relationship with Lamu Senator Anwar Loitiptip revealed it was still daylight when her man’s dad was shot and injured by officers enforcing curfew laws.
She added such cases were reported many times in the past but nothing was being done to bring the perpetrators to justice. “They shot my father-in-law today yet it was still daytime,” Saumu said.
On Sunday, May 10, Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i ordered for immediate investigations into an incident where police officers were captured on video destroying a truck driver’s vehicle. He ordered Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai to provide a report on the incident.
The motorist in question asked officers to compensate him for the damage they had done but he was threatened with arrest after complaining. The viral video angered Kenyans on Twitter and they all called on Matiang’i to step in and help bring the rude officers to justice.
