Building Collapse Amid Weston Hotel Demolition Scare

Date:

Hours after reports emerged that Deputy President William Ruto’s hotel, Weston Hotel was on the verge of being demolished, a building kilometers away from where it is located has collapsed.

The building collapsed along Parklands 5th Avenue, Nairobi on Thursday, October 7. The collapse has left many injured and one person dead.

Following the incident, police arrived at the scene and were joined by other rescue workers to help in the search and rescue million of any other person who might have been trapped inside the building’s debris.

Provisional reports claim that the building had caved before it collapsed.

The incident comes hours apart after Kapsaret MP Oscar Sudi took to Twitter, on Wednesday, even claiming that the government was planning to demolish DP Ruto’s five-star hotel.

The MP shared a picture of a bulldozer parked along Lang’ata Road, a few meters from where Weston Hotel is.

“The Deep State are indeed cornered. They have today decided to express their fury by attempting to demolish Weston Hotel.” Sudi wrote on his Twitter handle.

The police have, however, refuted the hotel’s demolition claims noting that the rumors were baseless.

Police attached to Lang’ata Police Station noted that they were not aware of any plan to demolish the highly contested hotel.
