Dancers Left Stranded After Entertaining Guests At Kajiado County’s First Lady Event

Date:

Some dancers from Kajiado County were left stranded after entertaining guests at an event that was hosted by Kajiado county first lady Edna Lenku.

The dancers, comprising of 14 women and two men, were forced to spend the night a police station after the organizers of the event failed to organize for their mode of transport to take them home.

The group had been hired to perform at an adult’s education forum on Wednesday, September 29.

According to the group, the first lady asked them to hire a vehicle that would ferry them to the event which they attended without fail hoping that she would take care of the expenses.

“The First Lady told us to hire a vehicle that would take us to the event and I did so informing the driver that the fare will be given to him once we get to the event,” one of the dancers said.

When the event was over, the first lady informed them that her personal assistant had told her that the dancers were ferried to the event by a county vehicle. Instead of catering for their transport, she only provided them with money for lunch.

Some of the elderly members who had attended the event were also left stranded.

The dancers said that efforts to reach the first lady after their driver asked for bus fare did not bear any fruits.

The driver chose to drive them to a police station in a bid to solve the problem.

“They told me that they will give me my money during our journey home only for them to inform me that they were denied bus fare. That is when I drove to the police station seeking further advice,” the driver said.

It is alleged that the dancers managed to get home after the intervention of a form MCA and some good Samaritans.
