President Uhuru Kenyatta has disclosed that he is going to be a farmer after retiring as the head of state in August next year.
President Kenyatta said that he was considering doing farming as his full time career while speaking during the African Green Revolution Forum (AGRF) 2021.
“To be honest, when I was growing up, I wanted to be in the defence forces but today, if you were to ask me that, I would say I want to be a farmer because that is what I am going to be when I retire,” President Kenyatta said.
He has however not made it clear on who he would wish to succeed him in the coming general elections slated for August 9, 2021.
In January this year, Kenyatta said that he would possibly support someone who is not from the Kalenjin or Kikuyu community.
The president who speaking during the burial of Musalia Mudavadi’s mother said that he had had enough of talks claiming that only two communities had ruled the country since independence.
“If that is your argument I can also stand and say there are two communities that have ruled this nation, maybe it is time to give a chance to the other tribes to lead because they also have people,” the president said.
He was however expected to support his Deputy William Ruto following the agreement they had had that led to the formation of Jubilee party.
The two however fell out after the handshake between president Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga.
The handshake saw the birth of BBI bill that intended to amend the constitution, something that DP Ruto totally disagreed with.
Ruto now seems to have ditched Jubilee for UDA, in his ambitions to becoming the 5th president of the country.
