Allies of deputy president William Ruto are taking advantage of the Laikipia banditry attacks to score political mileage.
The banditry attacks has seen several people killed and property destroyed, hundreds of residents also continue to flee their homes for safety.
The banditry attacks in the troubled Olmoran and Laikipia Nature Conservancy is caused by pastoral communities who are seeking grazing fields for their animals.
Laikipia County Commissioner Daniel Nyameti said security agencies have established that the bandits are causing havoc with the intention of making residents flee their farms so that they get greater grazing fields.
While the banditry attacks is not politically instigated, allies of deputy president William Ruto are politicizing it.
A handful of politicians allied to Ruto have dragged his name into the Laikipia banditry attacks blaming the government for the runaway insecurity.
