A company by the name Pfizer Inc is on the verge of offering Covid-19 solution to the world after it came up with an effective vaccine.
Through an announcement made on Monday afternoon, the company said that the new drug is more than 90% effective. Coronavirus pandemic has claimed millions of lives around the world and this latest revelation could not have come at a better time. The disease has also brought the world economy to its knees and interfered with our normal lives.
Pfizer joins German Partner BioNtech as the only drugmakers to successfully come up with meaningful data following large clinical trials. The companies also confirmed that so far they have not established any serious health concerns with regards to the new drug.
“We are reaching this critical milestone in our vaccine development program at a time when the world needs it most with infection rates setting new records, hospitals nearing over-capacity and economies struggling to reopen.” Said Pfizer’s chairman Albert Bourla.
Pfizer now expects to get authorization from the U.S government so that it can be used in emergency cases for patients between 16 to 85 years. To do this, the company will require two months safety data from the 44,000 participants that took part in the study.
The two companies now have a contract to the tune of 1.95 billion dollars with the government of US to issue 100 million doses of vaccines beginning this year.

The global race for vaccines has seen many rich countries in the world sign multi-billion dollar vaccine deals with drug producers such as Johnson & Johnson, AstraZeneca Plc and Pfizer. However, the main concern remains the third word countries and whether they will also get equal access to these drugs like the wealthy nations.
