Nancy Pelosi Seeks 2 More Years As The House Speaker After Serving Four Terms

Date:

Democratic candidate Nancy Pelosi is seeking another re-election as the house speaker to serve her fourth term.

Her bid comes following Democrat’s likely outstanding performance in the election to retain the majority seats in the house. Through a letter sent to the Individual Democrats, Pelosi urged them to grant her one more last chance. She said that as the majority, they will have a huge mandate going into the future since Biden is likely to win.

Nancy Pelosi further added that under her leadership, they would strive to pass legislations to help frontline communities, women, immigrants, young people, LGBTQ Americans, veterans and seniors.

The 80-year-old woman has served as the Democrat leader since the year 2002. To date, no democratic candidate has emerged to challenge her. The democrats are expected to elect their house leadership on 18th November 2020.They will be appointing the house majority leader and the majority chief whip.

However, Pelosi’s return raised concerns amongst the democrats since she promised in 2018 to step down after completing her two terms. When asked about the same, she failed to answer it.

Pelosi had been at loggerheads with President Trump with her leading the house to impeach him in late 2019. Her hope to seek another term as the speaker will only materialize if the democrats manage to win most seats.
