Machakos County Assembly Speaker Florence Muoti Mwangangi has been forced to go into self-isolation after testing positive for Covid-19.
Speaker Mwangangi, who is also the mother of Health Chief Administrative Secretary Dr. Mercy Mwangagi, said she had tested positive for the virus nine days ago.
Mrs. Mwangangi said she reportedly noticed that one of her colleagues was exhibiting Covid-19 symptoms prompting all the Machakos Assembly to get tested – she become among the two staff of the assembly who turned out positive.
The speaker said she had been following the Ministry of Health guidelines, adding the “coronavirus and is real and people should be careful.”
Mrs. Mwangangi urged those who have tested positive for the deadly virus to “stop fearing and come out and speak and let people know more about the coronavirus.”

“Each day is different and one may face different symptoms, those who are sick should take heart and be hopeful though the journey is tough,” she stated.
