A Form Four student was on Friday evening lynched by an angry mob for allegedly hacking his uncle to death in Mwea, Kirinyaga County.
The 20-year-old deceased student identified as Francis Mwaniki attacked his uncle in a miraa plantation within their homestead in Mugambaciura village under unclear circumstances.
It is reported that the 20-year-old had been abusing drugs and appeared disturbed before he picked a panga and killed his 45-year-old uncle Samuel Chomba.
“I tried very hard to help his uncle but he was determined to kill him,” said Peterson Mugambi, one of the friends to the 20-year-old.

According to one of the relatives, the boy had been previously threatened to kill his uncle and his family members accusing him of practicing witchcraft.
“We suspect the boy was using drugs… he kept saying saying his uncle Samuel Chomba was practicing witchcraft. What does a 20-year-old Form Four student know about witchcraft?” posed Michael Chomba.
Murinduko location chief Joseph Kariuki said police have launched investigations into the incident.
