Raila, Uhuru To Testify In Court After Exposer

On Tuesday a Nairobi court directed the prosecution to give the defense statements of President Uhuru Kenyatta and Opposition leader Raila Odinga, in case there are any, in a case where two suspects were charged for allegedly leaking CCTV footage that captured the Head of State and Raila in the Nairobi CBD in June this year.

Issuing the orders, the court Magistrate Bernard Ochoi further stated the case be mentioned on October 29, 2020, for the court to give directions on the CCTV footage issued.

The suspects – Patrick Rading Ambogo and Magoma Ayonga were charged with the offense of unauthorized interception of computer data which is against section 17(1) of the Computer Misuse and Cyber Crime Act.

They were charged in June after allegedly intercepting a security CCTV footage capturing President Uhuru’s entourage along Kenyatta avenue.

The two denied the charges and were released on a cash bail of Ksh10,000 or a bond of Ksh30,000 each.

They denied that charges leveled against them saying it does not exist in the law, and further asked President Kenyatta to record the statement on the issue.

“We want the footage and shall be asking for a statement of the Head of State and former Prime Minister Raila Odina to show that indeed they were captured at the time of the night,” the accused defense lawyer Omari said.
