MP Aisha Jumwa Allowed To Skip Court Proceedings

Embattled Malindi MP, Aisha Jumwa has been excepted from court sessions during the mention of her corruption on October 2.

The prosecution did not oppose Aisha Jumwa’s plea for the exemption. The court was informed that the defense team has been issued with the files the prosecution intended to use during the proceedings.

The Malindi MP is accused of conspiracy to defraud Sh19 million belonging to the National Government – Constituency Development Fund, money laundering, conflict of interest, and acquisition of proceeds of crime.

Aisha was freed on an Sh5 million bond with surety or an Sh2 million cash bail.

The court refused to release her on free bond as requested by her lawyers who argued that she is not a flight risk and was able to attend the court proceeding whenever required.

The legislature is accused alongside Margaret Kalume, Kennedy Otieno, Sophia Saidi, Wachu Omar, Robert Katana, and Multiserve contractors.
