Dr. James Mwangi has been named the 2020 Olso Business Award Winner and award also referred to as Nobel Prize for Business.
The Equity Bank CEO was named alongside two other nominees.
The award is conferred annually to individuals who exhibit ethically “businessworthy” initiatives that create economic and societal value.
The Oslo Business Award is the highest global distinction and the panel consists of past Nobel prize winners in economics and peace.
“I dedicate this award to our staff and to the millions of our customers who have continuously inspired us by trusting and believing in our common purpose and dream,” said Mwangi.
The Equity CEO was chosen together with the CEO of Salesforce, in the US, Marc Benioff, and the co-founder of Coffee for Peace in the Philippines, Joji Felicitas Pantoja.

The global nomination that led to the award was led by International Chamber of Commerce, former Oslo Business for Peace Honorees, the United Nations Development Programme, and Principles for Responsible Investment and the United Nationa Global Compact.
In 2019, Mwangi was named among the Bloomberg 50 most inspiring people in the world who defined 2019 in business, finance, politics, entertainment, science and technology.
