The confirmed cases of Covid-19 cases in the country have risen to 396 after an additional 12 people tested positive for the virus.
Health Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Rashid Aman, while delivering the daily Covid-19 presser at Afya House on Thursday, April 30, informed that over the last 24 hours, 777 samples had been tested for the virus.
He further revealed that 2 more patients had succumbed to the virus, taking the country’s Covid-19 death toll to 17. 15 more people recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours, marking the highest number of discharges in one day.
A total of 144 recoveries have been recorded so far since the first Covid-19 case was reported in the country.
The CAS also noted that a total of people tested in Kenya for the virus had crossed 20,000 standing at 20,268.
“12 people have tested positive for Coronavirus, Seven of these are from Mombasa, Nairobi (3), Wajiri (1) and Kitui (1). You will note that the case for Wajir is a new one for that county.
“The cases in Mombasa are spread between Old town (4), Bondeni (1), Bomani (1) and Kitunguni (1),” announced the CAS.
Five of the new cases were from the designated quarantine centres while seven were picked up by the Ministry of Health’s disease surveillance team.
The CAS also noted that all truck drivers would be tested at their point of origin which is Mombasa,an exercise that they stated would be done in an efficient way.
