Breaking: Uhuru names Lt. Gen Robert Kibochi as Chief of Defence Forces designate

President Uhuru Kenyatta has appointed General Robert Kibochi to the post of Chief of Defence Forces designate.
The changes followed preparations for the exit of Samson Mwathethe who has been at the helm of the Kenya Defence Forces since April 2015.

The President further appointed Lieutenant General Levi Mghalu as Vice Chief of Defence Forces designate.
Major General Jimson Mutai has been named Commander of the Kenya Navy designate.

“The officers are expected to assume office under their new positions, on May 11, 2020,” President Kenyatta said in a statement from State House on Thursday.

Levi was promoted from the rank of Major General to Lieutenant General; while Mutai was promoted from the rank of brigadier to Major General.

The changes followed preparations for the exit of Samson Mwathethe who has been at the helm of the Kenya Defence Forces since April 2015.

A short life story of Kibicho

General Kibicho comes from a humble background in Njoro and went to a school called Mwigito(Mwigito in Kikuyu simply means to take cover) Primary school, then Koelel high school.

Koelel itself was considered a military training camp and dormitory before being turned into a school, mainly for military kids but later expanded to a provincial secondary school for everyone.
