KTN news anchor Mary Kilobi has refuted claims of ever having an affair with former Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa.
In a long post on social media on Sunday that included quotes from the Bible, Kilobi said that she has never interacted with Echesa and the closest she has ever come to him was when he visited their home in Kajiado.
She quoted Psalm 34: 12-14 that asks people to refrain from lying and Psalms 35:1-28 which she called upon Echesa’s friends to read for him, because he is a Muslim.
“Just for clarity as a journalist, I have interacted with many news sources but not even once have I with one Rashid Echesa, only have I seen him in our Kajiado home. I’ve never even had his phone number! Therefore I consider what he said yesterday(Saturday) for the sake of settling political scores very disrespectful! and totally unacceptable!” part of her post read.
Kilobi, who is the youngest wife of Cotu Secretary General Francis Atwoli, insisted that she is not a politician but a journalist and politicians who are attacking her just to get at her husband are behaving like cowards.
“I’ve said this and I will say it again. I am a Journalist and not a politician, not even once have I seemed to have taken sides while discharging my duty. Its is not right and will never be that politicians find it pleasant to keep mentioning my name in rallies. Attacking Kilobi for trying to get back at my Husband is Cowardly!” Kilobi stated.
The journalist also warned Echesa over his disrespect to those who have helped him while urging him to continue growing her name instead of promoting his political agendas.
“You may not even have respect for people who have helped you in life like SG Atwoli not even for the President of Kenya but there’s a Supreme Power above you that will make you know that he owns the Universe. Agosti 9 yaja, Wadau uzeni Sera! Endelea kunijenga! Profiter de ma Vie!” Kilobi further said.

On Saturday February 12, during the Kenya kwanza mega rally at Amalemba grounds in Kakamega, Echesa claimed that he had an affair with Kilobi before she got married to Atwoli and that she knows him better than her husband.
“Listen Kilobi, you know me very well before Atwoli. Kilobi knows me better than Atwoli. She was my broom before she went to Atwoli,” Echesa said as the crowd burst in laughter and cheers
