A statement purporting that Weston Hotel in Nairobi is offering free meals to Lang’ata residents has been making rounds on social media sparking excitement among a section of netizens.
It had been posted to inform the interested residents living in Lang’ata to get in touch with the Hotel’s manager or Lang’ata MP Nick Korir for further instructions on the free meal plan and accommodation.
“This is to inform all Lang’ata residents that in line with our Chairman’s desire of equality for all, Weston Hotel, which he owns, will with effect midnight today October 1, 2020, be offering free accommodation and meals to Lang’ata residents only,” it claimed.
This statement is fake; the Weston Hotel management has dismissed the letter terming it as fake.
The Hotel management further disclosed they were looking forward to giving their customers amazing reopening deals to stay, dine and relax this new month of October.
“The below (statement) however does not reflect on our reopening plans and we would like to encourage the public to disregard any information from any other source apart from our official social media channels,” it stated.
The Hotel, which belongs to Deputy President William Ruto has recently hit the headlines over alleged grabbing its land in Nairobi’s Lang’ata area.
The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) claimed it acquired the land illegally.
However, in its court papers seen by Standard Digital in May, Weston avers it legally bought the land from Priority Ltd and Monene Investment Ltd.

But in the new court filings, KCAA claims that inconsistencies in the documents produced by Weston, failure to produce any valid sale agreement and transfer instruments, and allegedly ignoring the Ndung’u report’s red flag on grabbed public properties indicated it played a part in grabbing the land.
The contested property, LR No 209/14372, was registered under Weston on June 13, 2007.
