Kenyan International Michael Olunga has been voted the Meiji Yasuda J.League KONAMI Monthly MVP for August for his goal-scoring prowess that saw him net six times in six matches during the period.
The KONAMI Monthly MVP recognises the most outstanding player in the Japanese top-flight and Olunga’s unstoppable form in August propelled him to win the award.
Posting on his social media pages, the inform striker said.
“I would like to thank everyone involved in the J-League for being selected as the MVP for August of the Meiji Yasuda Life J1 League. I also thank my teammates, coaching staff, and fan supporters.
Its humbling to be named the Meiji Yasuda Konami August 2020 MVP.

“It has been an unusual season because of the coronavirus but I will continue to work hard. I’m pleased with the continued development of the J-League and I will do my best to keep up,” Olunga told reysol.co.jp.
The Kashiwa Reysol player has scored 15 goals in 15 J-League rounds this season, at least six more than any other player has managed, helping his newly promoted into fifth on the standings.

After a largely quiet loan spell at Girona where he managed three goals in 14 appearances, Olunga has been explosive for Reysol helping them win the J2-League championship and top-flight promotion last year with 27 league goals.
