My husband always wakes up in the middle of the night and eats our baby’s food. Even if I leave him some food like rice, he will still go for our little Brandy’s meal. He is super lazy and does not want to buy food. Please help. Hilda
Dear Hilda,
Even as you worry about your hubby eating your baby’s meal, you should also worry that your husband has a problem that should be addressed immediately -sleep eating disorder. If this issue is not addressed as soon as possible it might cause injury or even death.
We humans normally have two types of sleep – where our eyes roll rapidly (REM) and a deeper sleep where our eyes are fixed (Non-REM).
As much as sleep should be restful, so of us engage in peculiar behaviors while sleeping known as parasomnias. This includes sleep eating and sleepwalking occur in the deeper part of sleep, Non-REM with the person not able to remember what happened.
Most people with a sleeping disorder may have one or many sleep-eating episodes nearly every night even when they are satisfied.
Foods that have high-calorie levels such as carbohydrates and fats (are not preferred during the day) being preferred may be the reason behind your baby’s food is eaten by your husband.

Those with sleep eating disorder may have a lot of daytime sleepiness and fatigue, therefore, making them feel lazy to look for food or even work. Sleep-related disorders can be very dangerous since one has to look for food even in the gardens and cook it using naked fire.
This may result in injuries besides preparing and eating inedible or toxic items.
Since sleep-related disorders can be genetic and there is always a need to address the problem.
You can also secure the bedroom, or doors and hide the keys where your husband may not find them.
