The Makueni Police boss, Francis Gichui has been officially transferred after an officer, Ms. Nancy Njeri from his station was detained over the death of lawyer Onesmus Masaku.
Makueni residents who accused the police boss of trying to protect the officer Nancy Njeri who is set to face murder charges had earlier on threatened to interrupt Mashujaa Day celebrations demanding the transfer of the police boss.
Makueni residents were then assured that the law will not be applied selectively in the case of Nancy Njeri who was arrested under the charges of murder by Makueni County Commissioner Mohammed Maalim.

Lawyer Masaku died at the Kenyatta National Hospital where he had been receiving treatment after his hands were slashed two weeks ago.
Nancy Njeri, who had been stationed at Makueni Police Station in Wote, is accused of slashing his hands with a machete on October 7, 2020.
Two days after her arrest, Njeri was arraigned at the Machakos Court before Senior Resident Magistrate Caroline Ocharo.
There were allegations that the police were trying to cover up the entire incident to protect their colleague.
The prosecutor said the suspect’s life was in danger because of angry residents if she were to be presented before a Makueni Court.
The court directed the suspect to be remanded at Wote Police Station in Makueni as she waits the completion of the investigation that will be presented before the court on October 23, 2020 when the case against her will be mentioned.
