Jubilee Deputy Secretary General, Caleb Kositany, has defended the Deputy President William Ruto over insults to Mama Ngina which were uttered by his allies.
Speaking during an interview with Citizen TV on Tuesday night, Kositany stated that the statements which were made are personal statements and that they did not speak on behalf of the DP.
“It is very unfortunate that the two Members of Parliament made those statements, I do not agree with their statements. Those were personal statements; they did not speak on behalf of the DP,” he stated.
He added that leaders should respect both the President and his Deputy.
“We owe it to ourselves as leaders to really exercise restraint, both sides. Let us respect the President, let us respect the Deputy President and their families,” he said.

Kositany sentiments conflict Jubilee’s Secretary General, Raphael Tuju, stand. According to Tuju, Ruto must come out and address the insults which he claimed were being made using his name.
“I called Deputy President this afternoon and we had a discussion on it and I did make my position very clear that because some of the things are being done using his name,” Tuju said.
Tuju said Ruto’s defence that he had spoken out against the legislators’ action on Twitter did not fly, adding Kenyans would not be satisfied with tweets.

Kositany and Tuju contradicting statements paint a clear picture of the rift in the ruling party.
Kositany confirmed the rift stating that the party is in disarray.
“At the moment the Jubilee Party is not operating as a ruling political party, we are in total disarray…” he claimed.
However he insisted that the leaders will get Jubilee party back on track.
