Diamond Platnumz is tonight a bitter man after the Tanzania Communication Regulatory Authority (TCRA)Â banned his Wasafi FM station for even days over the continued use of foul language.
The punishment kicks of on September 12.
The regulator said the punishment was because Wasfi FM presenters continued airing programmes with abusive language and violating communications regulations.
Speaking at press conference in Dar Es Salama TCRA Director-General James Kilaba said the main offence was committed on August 1, between 8 pm and 5pm and on August 4, between 10am and 12 pm on programmes: The switch and Mashamsamu respectively, where the presenters aired content heavy with abusive language which is contrary to licensing regulations.

Other than the ban the station is also supposed to apologize.
” From the moment I make this announcement the station is required to stop regular programming and air an apology for the remaining hours of Saturday, September 11 before they start serving the ban on September 12,” said Mr Kilaba.
And Wasafi management has been aligned to the directive. In a statement, the media station said, ”In honouring TCRA directive, Wasafi FM management would like to apologise to TCRA and Tanzanians in general after our shows The Switch and Mashamsham violated the communications act by using vulgar language. We humbly accept the punishment from TCRA. We will also be going off-air from today until September 18.”
The ban on Wasafi FM follows that of Clouds FM and Clouds TV which were banned for the same reasons.
