Defence CS Aden Duale has told off those calling upon president William Ruto to climb down, just like the Biblical Zacchaeus, who was a renown tax collector.
Duale noted that the president has delivered by ensuring that prices of some basic commodities are lowered as well as inflation rate.
“The people who are saying Zakayo ashuke, ashuke kutoka wapi? Amepanda wapi? Zakayo has delivered, he has brought down food and fuel prices, inflation is at 1%, farmers are happy,” CS said in an interview with Jeff Koinange on Citizen Tv.
Asked on whether the president listens yo advice, Duale said, ” You think he just woke up and declined to sign the Finance Bill? Do you think he woke up one morning and picked deputy president to be his running mate?”
He added that the president also consulted widely on the issue of the Finance Bill 2024.
At the same time, Duale also said that he is ready to step down, if the president orders so. During a round table discussion with main stream media last Sunday, president Ruto said that he felt that he had been let down by his communication team as well as the CSs.
“If the President feels I have let him down as a Minister of Defence, I want him to do the right thing, not only start with me and all the rest who have let him down, in the interest of the Kenyans and tell us to step aside, I will have a new team. I am ready,” he said.
” The president should have an internal discussion with himself and anybody he feels is a baggage and he wants them to come out of the bus he is driving he should do it,” he added.
