Hundreds of youths this evening stormed William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party demanding for pay after they were hired to heckle and carry a wheelbarrow in the presence of Raila at Burma market.
The youths chanted Pesa Yetu! Pesa Yetu! Pesa Yetu! thao mbili! thao mbili! Wheelbarrow! Wheelbarrow! as they tried to make their way into the UDA headquarters in Nairobi.
According to the youths, they were misused on Wednesday by Ruto’s ally Dennis Itumbi who hired them to go and shout at Raila during his tour at the Burma market but were not paid. As a result, they decided to storm the UDA headquarters on Thursday in a bid to demand for their pay.
The ODM leader had a peaceful tour at the market until some few youths stormed his rally while carrying wheelbarrows and shouting Ruto. The few youths were however dispersed almost immediately by the hawk-eyed Raila’s security details at Burma market.
While at the tour, Raila was accompanied by a number of leaders amongst them nominated MP Maina Kamanda, Suna East member of parliament Junnet Mohammed and former Starehe parliamentary aspirant Steve Mbogo.

With the latest incident at the UDA headquarters, it seems the youths were hired to carry the wheelbarrows in the presence of Raila if their chants of Pesa Yetu! Thao Mbili! Wheelbarrow! at the UDA headquarters is anything to go by.
