Youths with tattoos on their skin have been disqualified from the National Youth Service Recruitment.
Despite meeting other qualification, those who had such artistic works on their bodies Stood no chance.
One of the affected is a youth in Thika, who tattooed his body while he was in high school.
“I live in Thika and I’m here for the NYS recruitment but it did not go as expected because I have a tattoo which has disqualified me. I had the tattoo while I was in high school at that time it was not a big deal but now I see why my parents were against it,” the youth said.
He appealed to anyone who can remove the tattoo from his body to help him.
Others in the same area also missed the opportunity because of differences in locations captured in their identity cards.
A youth leader in Thika has urged parents to guide their children when applying for IDs to avoid such challenges.
“Thika had 107 slots but the turnout was not very pleasing. Most of those who turned up were disqualified for among other things having tattoos on their hands, chests among other parts of the body, discrepancies in their national identification cards and low academic grades,” the leader said.
