Millicent Omanga has welcomed the move by president William Ruto to include the younger generation in decision making.
In a post on her social media channels, Omanga said that, this was an important step and it was a win for the younger people.
“Yesterday, the president said Gen Z will be included in the National decision making processes as a measure to enhance inclusivity. I think this is an important step as the young people progressively grab seats on the table rather than being on the menu. Young people are winning ,” she wrote.
This comes in the wake of a series of demonstrations aimed at expressing dissatisfaction with the Finance Bill 2024.
Last week, protestors announced a 7- day plan from June 21 to June 27, with the aim of ensuring that the bill is not signed.
This Monday, protestors are to visit MPs who voted yes to the bill making it sail to the second reading stage.
While attending a church service on Ruto spoke on the ongoing protests saying that he was very proud of the Gen Zs.
“Our young people have stepped forward to engage in the affairs of their country. They have done a democratic duty to stand and be recognized and I want to tell you that we are going to have a conversation with you so that we can identify your issues and we can work together as a nation and streamline your issues.
“I am very proud of our young people. They have stepped forward tribeless, they have stepped forward peacefully and I want to tell them we are going to engage so that together we can build a better nation,” Ruto said.
“What I want to encourage them is that we are concerned about their issues.”
