In one of the most bizarre rape incidents ever reported in Kenya, a woman in Mombasa was raped while having her monthly period, the suspect escorted her to her house, wiped himself with her cloth and asked the victim to wear it.
The victim, whose identity has been concealed for her own safety, reported the matter at the Concordia Police Post in Kisauni, Mombasa county but she was dismissed by police.
The woman’s story sounds stranger than Hollywood thriller movie ‘I Spit on Your Grave’, the things that the rapist did to her are utterly disturbing.
According to the middle-aged woman, her ordeal begun on Sunday August 22nd 2021 after she quarreled with a neighbor who vowed to teach her a lesson.
The woman says she was embroiled in a verbal altercation with her neighbor over three coconuts that fell to her compound.
On Wednesday August 25th 2021 – three days after quarrelling with the neighbor – the woman was raped by a man near her house in Vikwatani within Kisauni sub-county.
“We had quarreled on Sunday over three coconuts which had fallen inside my compound, and during the confrontation, she vowed to teach me a lesson. Three days later, I was raped by someone whom I believe had been sent by her,” the woman told K24.
The single mother says she had gone to fetch water just near her house when she was accosted by heavily-built man who was armed with a knife and a machete.
The man asked the woman to identify herself before he proceeded to strip her naked and raped her just a few meters from her house.
“He had a torch and after attacking me, he asked me to identify myself before he proceeded to strip me naked. I begged him not to rape me since I was on my monthly periods but my cries fell on deaf ears. I was unable to fight him so he easily had his way,” the woman narrated.
The victim says the man escorted her to her house after he was done, once inside he asked the whereabouts of her children who were sleeping in the single roomed-house before he wiped himself with her cloth and told her to put it on.
“He wiped himself using my dress then he ordered me to put it on with the glaring stains,” said the victim.
The Mombasa woman further disclosed that the man took time to leave her house. She says he instructed her to always honor his sexual demands failure to which he would kill her.
“He raped me and forced me to swear to him that whenever he felt like having sex with me, he would come knocking on my door and I would immediately open the door,” said the terrified woman.
Fearing for her life, the Mombasa woman reported the matter at Concordia Police Post where police on duty laughed at her and claimed she enjoyed the rape ordeal.
The victim lamented that a cop asked her why she didn’t scream to alert neighbors while the man was raping her.
“Didn’t you enjoy the act since throughout the ordeal you did not scream for neighbors to rescue you?”, the woman quoted the words that one of the police officer at the station told her.
The woman returned home to her misery having received no help from police. On September 1st 2021, the suspect struck again.
The victim says the rapist stormed into her house early in the morning and threatened to rape her in the presence of her children.
To protect her kids, the woman offered to go out with the man where he raped her in the nearby bushes and left after he was done.
“He again forced himself into my house at around 5am yesterday. l feared for the lives of my children who were by now all awake and left with him to the nearby bushes where he raped me,” the woman recalled.
Kisauni Sub-county police Commander Londo Juma confirmed that they are following up on the matter after K24 highlighted the woman’s ordeal.
