It has been 3 days now since the war between Russia and Ukraine began. Russia launched a full invasion on Ukraine by land, air, water and sea.
Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the military operation in Ukraine through a televised speech at the time when the UN Security Council was urging him to give peace a chance.
In his speech, Putin said that his intention was not to take over Ukraine but was just responding to the threats that Russia had been getting from the country.
The conflict has attracted worldwide attention with some referring to it as World War III while others condemning Putin’s move.
As Ukraine and Russian soldiers face off, President Volodymyr Zelensky has refused to be a coward.
Russian troops are closing in on Ukraine’s capital Kyiv as of Saturday morning(Ukraine time) but Zelensky refused America’s help to get evacuated saying, “The fight is here.”
Explosion reverberated through the city but the president urged his country to stand firm and face their enemies, while saying that the fight is going to determine their future as a country.
“This night we have to stand firm. The fate of Ukraine is being decided right now,” Zelensky was quoted by Associated Press.
Zelensky’s braveness is commendable unlike Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani who fled the country after the Talibans sought to take control in September last year.
As Talibans took over Kabul, the capital city, Ghani fled the country in a private jet together with his family and it was believed that he sought refuge in Uzbekistan.
Later on, through social media, He explained that he fled the country to avoid bloodshed. However his move to abandon his country at the time of need was widely condemned.
