Vanessa Ogema, the woman who went viral following a CCTV footage which showed him hurling insulting words at hospital staff at Port Victoria Hospital in Busia County has surrendered to the police.
Ogemo presented herself at Busia police station on Sunday, January 7.
She had covered her face with a surgical mask and hoody to prevent the media from photographing her.
Ogemo surrendered following uproar that followed after the CCTV footage was circulated prompting the Ministry of Health led by Cabinet Secretary Susan Nakhumicha to respond.
In the viral video which made rounds on January 3, Ogema and an unidentified man were seen harassing hospital staff.
The woman was seen causing havoc by throwing files on the floor and hitting a table while shouting at the hospital staff.
She at some point threatened to call Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba. The CS condemned her actions while distancing himself from the young lady.
The matter agitated members of the public who called for appropriate action against the woman.
Kenya Medical Practitioners Pharmacists Dentists Union (KMPDU) Secretary General Davji Atellah was among those who commended to the incident, calling for legal action.
“This is rudimentary, illegal, and immoral. The attitude and action by politicians and their cronies to threaten healthcare workers at their place of work should be curtailed,” he said.
“The safety of healthcare workers is threatened in such facilities. The perpetrators of this heinous act should be brought to book urgently.”
The incident also forced the hospital staff to down their tools on January 5, forcing families to transfer their patients to other facilities.
