Two armed thugs were after a boda boda rider who had sought refuge in the woman’s house on Tuesday night.
The Woman was shot on the leg after she denied seeing the boda boda rider.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations report (DCI), the boda boda rider was ferrying the two thugs before the incident occurred.
“Eliphas Mutwiri, a boda boda rider at Laare market in Igembe, was ferrying two pillion passengers to Joune market when one of them suddenly brandished a pistol and ordered him to stop. A defiant Mutwiri declined and a scuffle ensued as he tried to disarm the thug, who had reached for the bike’s ignition key,” DCI report read.
During the struggle, the gun went off thus forcing Mutwiri to run for his dear life.
“In the ensuing melee, the firearm discharged one round prompting Mutwiri to dump the bike in a ditch with the thugs on board, before taking flight for dear life,” DCI said.
Mutwiri ran to the woman’s house who ushered him under a bed as the thugs tried to recollect themselves from the fall.
“The agitated thugs who were no longer interested in the bike, stormed the woman’s house a minute later baying for Mutwiri’s blood. When the woman denied harbouring the rider, the thugs shot her on the left leg as they fled,” the report stated.
Following the gunshot, Mutwiri cameout of his hideout and together with neighbours who had responded to the gunshot rushed the injured woman to a hospital.
