Former Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has claimed that outgoing president Uhuru Kenyatta cost Raila Odinga so much in the 2022 general elections.
According to him, Uhuru failed to deliver most of Mt. Kenya’s votes to him as it had been expected.
At the same time Kuria said that it was Uhuru Kenyatta’s idea to file a petition at the Supreme Court and not Raila’s. He added that Uhuru subjected Raila to therapy to keep their relationship going.
“It was 5-years of warm therapy. Uhuru would convince him that everything is okay, that he will beat us, that he had the system and people. Even this Supreme court was not Raila’s idea, it was Uhuru’s therapy. The election was Uhuru vs Ruto, the case was Uhuru vs Ruto. I talked to some people to tell Uhuru to talk to Raila and tell him to let the country move on. He said ‘no, we know he has lost, we know has no case but he said let him go so that Kisumu would not sink into chaos’. I have refused this idea of spoiling Kisumu’s name,” Kuria said during an interview at the Tackle show.

He further said that no politician loses elections through rigging as many claim most of the time.
Kuria said that politicians lose elections because of their non-serious agents who are not keen on protecting their votes during the elections process.
“Nobody can steal elections from you. Imagine me and Gerald Bitok we are in the ballot, and then a old woman comes in a polling station saying that she wants Moses Kuria then the presiding officer says that she wants Bitok, your agent is sitting there on Facebook, aren’t you the one who has stolen your own votes and that’s what happens,” he said
“I have seen people steal their own votes through their agents many times, you can’t blame anybody, that’s why we talk about preparedness and training agents who are believers in your goals, who really want your seat more than you need it,” he added.
Kuria, who unsuccessfully vied for the Kiambu gubernatorial seat said that he is also a victim of such, and went ahead to refer to his agents as tourists.
“I actually think that if I ever get into politics again, I will pay my agents on a performance basis, I am not going to pay you to steal from me. The demeanor of my agents, there was no election but you know what has that got to do with the guys who won, my agents were tourists,” he said.
