Prime CS Musalia Mudavadi has laid bare his intentions with regard to the 2027 elections.
Last year, Mudavadi had intended to vie for the country’s top seat but he changed his mind and went ahead to support President William Ruto, alongside former Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetang’ula.
In an interview with Citizen TV on Thursday night, Mudavadi said that in 2027, he has no plans of taking a shot at the presidency.
Instead, he will support Ruto again because he is very sure that he will be going for a second term.
“I want to put a closure to certain things, I came in very clearly that we want to support president Ruto. I have every reason to believe that president Ruto intends to defend his position in 2027 and I have made a decision that I will back him in his second attempt. Therefore the whole issue of this debate as far as Hon. Musalia Mudavadi is concerned should be put to closure, what is important right now is can we resuscitate the economy,” he said.
Recently, president Ruto touched on 2027 elections, while responding to those who claim that he will not be voted for again.
“Many people are asking the way you are going you will not get a second term . Let me tell you, I am very clear in my mind. I was not elected to go for a second term. I was elected to get the country out of the mess . I was elected to create jobs . I was elected to implement Universal Health Coverage that has been on our tabs forever. I intend to precisely to that,” he told journalists on Sunday evening.
“They want us to continue to the same thing, lying to the people. We are going to do this when you don’t mean it. For the first time I meant everything that is in that manifesto and I am going to make sure that I will implement because finally the people of Kenya will know that I did the right thing and they will reward me accordingly,” he further said.
