“You were elected to serve, not to punish Nairobians,” says Mike Sonko.
Former Governor Mike Sonko has issued a warning to Governor Johnson Sakaja, stating that if he does not adjust his management style, he will organize for his expulsion.
Sonko claimed that Nairobi residents have indeed been complaining and are dissatisfied with how the city is being operated.
“You were elected to serve Nairobians, not to punish Nairobians. We are not happy as Nairobi leaders,” he said.
Sonko stated that Sakaja should follow the law and added that if he does not rule “orderly,” he will not think twice to plan for his impeachment and removal from office using the law and people’s power.
“We want to tell him that even if he has MCAs in his pocket, the constitution is very clear. We can even mobilise the collection of signatures to send you home.”
“Tumekunyamazia sana because we respect you. But ukianza kudharau UDA, President and Deputy President, I am sure we are going to cause havoc,” he said.
“You have to respect Nairobians and work for them because they are the people who have elected you. Dont punish people, don’t be selective in your leadership,” he further added.
As a former governor, Mike Sonko claims to fully understand the grievances of Nairobi residents.
Sonko urged Sakaja to show respect for Nairobi’s business community and end the city’s rampant corruption.
