Date:

The national carrier, Kenya Airways, issued a traffic advisory to all travelers scheduled to catch different flights on Sunday, October 29.

According to Kenya Airways, traffic disruption in some city sections will be due to the StanChart Marathon.

“Due to the StanChart Marathon Scheduled to take place on October 29, 2023, customers are advised to plan for their travels early to avoid traffic inconveniences,” Kenya Airways alerted its customers.

During the race, several roads are closed paving the way for the competition.

The race will start at the Southern Bypass opposite Carnivore Restaurant before the participants head towards Ole Sereni Hotel for a U-turn at the ICD Business Park.

Participants will head back to Ole Sereni on the opposite side all the way past Ngong Road interchange before making another u-turn and run all the way to Uhuru Gardens which is the final point.

The Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon holds a special place in the Athletics Kenya calendar since its inception as the first major marathon attracting thousands of participants.

The event has become the signature annual sports event and social event that brings together runners and supporters from all over the country as well as foreign participants to Nairobi.

From humble beginnings back in 2003 with 4,000 participants to the current participation of 20,000 participants, the marathon has marked major milestones fully achieving its objectives as set at the onset.

The Marathon is the flagship project for our ‘Seeing is Believing’ community imitative that aims to raise funds for the needy in the community.

Last year’s event attracted over 19,000 participants from all walks of life.
