Ramogi TV is the best example of how Billionaire interests kill innovation from normal Kenyans outside their circles…. And develop their own ideas copied from the average Kenyans….
I was among the first Kenyans to respond to the call to take up the challenge of establishing TV stations in order to use the new spectrum generated from the migration from Analog to Digital….
Several other Kenyans did the same. On the Kikuyu Language segment, Njata TV was the leading TV station from 2014… Until Inooro TV came into the picture…..
On the Luo language segment, Lolwe TV was the leading station from 2014… Till today…..
Many will ask… Why didn’t they make high impact like the Royal Media stations (Ramogi TV)…Â The answer is in the Government Policy.
In 2015, immediately after opening up the digital space, Jubilee government created something called the Government Advertising Agency….. Like many of the Billionaire controlled policies, the justification was “streamlining Government expenditure on Media”
But reality is that GAA came to kill businesses belonging to average Kenyans and exclusively give money to Media houses owned by the Billionaire class.. ..
Before GAA came, stations like Njata and Lolwe would approach advertisers in Government, sell the idea and get business direct….. Had this continued Njata TV and Lolwe TV would have been huge media houses by now…..
But the dream was nipped in the bud after the Head of Public Service gave out a circular banning State Corporations from giving direct advertising to media houses without going through GAA……
What that meant was that Njata TV and Lolwe TV stopped getting advertisements and had to depend on their own pockets to run the stations, yet the already established Billionaire owned media houses got all the State Billions…..
I hope the long essay explains why the Billionaires want to hold to hold on to power through all means…….
Holding political power gives them economic and financial power… Ramogi TV is already making waves and it’s just a new vernacular station in the country.
