The news of Hussein Mohammed showing his back on Royal Media Services has caught many fans and TV viewers by surprise.
In a tweet, Mohamed who has worked for Citizen TV for over 10 years announced his exit saying that he is taking a break at the end of October to “concentrate on other matters”.
“It has been a wonderful 10 years at Citizen TV. I have enjoyed & relished every moment I shared with my colleagues at RMS. I have decided to take a break after October In Sha Allah to concentrate on other matters. Loved the fans, the critics & everything in between. See you soon,” he tweeted.
Although this news came as a shock, sources within Royal Media tell us that Husssein has always wanted to leave the media giant since the arrival Jeff Koinange who many in the stations say is being overpaid for doing less work.
Another source who didn’t want to be named said Hussein was headed for greener pastures where is pay will be more than doubled.
Mr. Hussien himself hinted at that saying, “ I will be back on the screens “very soon”.
It is understood that several media houses have been in contact with him begging for his services.
He joined Citizen TV in 2008 and since then his professionalism and demeanor have raised his profile both nationally and internationally.
He emerged as the best TV interviewer with the innate ability to tackle politicians and other leaders head-on without flinching.
Some of his fans who took to his Twitter page wished him well in his future endeavors.
“All the best Hussein. You’ve always been my favorite anchor on prime time news with your in-depth interviews. Good luck,” Alfred wrote.
“Who will handle the DP now? Too bad,” Toven Omondi questioned.
