Bungoma senator Moses Wetangula is not just about to stay in the political cold for another five years as the August 9th general election looms.
According to Sunday Nation, Moses Wetangula has told deputy president William Samoei Ruto that he is going to defend his senate seat. This is despite deputy president guarantying him the speaker post in the Kenya Kwanza deal if they form the next government.
Sources reveal that the Bungoma senator made that decision since it was the only sure and practical avenue of being in the government because of the tough conditions given to them by the Kenya Kwanza leadership.
Wetangula and Mudavadi were given a condition to first deliver 70% of the Luhya votes for their Western region to benefit from Ruto Gachagua government. The two leaders would get the speaker slot and the chief cabinet secretary slot and 30% of the government only if they deliver 70% of the votes.
The move by the Bungoma senator has been seen as a smart move which was informed by the latest opinion polls showing Raila way much ahead of Ruto in the Western region despite Wetangula and Musalia Miudavadi crossing to his side.
On their side, Kenyans had the following to say regarding the latest decision by Weta:
“Weta is a man who listens to the ground and he knows Kenya kwanza getting votes in western is a difficult thing..”
“Weta the 5th is a wise man. Life has taught him so many important lessons. At his age, no room for more mistakes.”
“For the first time Western ?? is United politicaly like it has never been witnessed before.
Expect Mudavadi to come back to Azimio. A day in politics is a very long time!”
“Wetangula is a learned friend, he can project the future. He can’t afford to be at the cold for 5 years ???”
“Wacha akuje tumtupe nje kabisa… He is the reason Bungoma is literally dragging behind.. We need to close his Political doors permanently.”
“Ruto is not going win this election after Matha coming on bound it clear to everyone Raila is the next president”
“Tom and Jerry gave up long ago. Weta knows Ruto can’t win and he isn’t guaranteed the speaker’s position.”
“Soon Weta will join Azimio. We can bet a whole busaa pot with anyone disputing.”
