Miguna Miguna is expected to arrive in Kenya on Thursday, October 20, 2022, at 6 am after being away from the country for nearly five years.
Miguna, who was deported to Canada in early 2018, is yet to share with his followers about his trip to Kenya after his several attempts to return previously failed.
His family, led by his elder brother Eric Ondiek Miguna, are anxiously waiting for his return and are grateful to the new administration for making it possible for the lawyer to come back home.
“We were very pleased when he told us that he had been issued his passport and eventually the red alert which was placed on him was lifted. He told us that he will board his flight to Kenya on Wednesday, October 19, and will arrive in Kenya on Thursday,” he told journalists.
According to Ondiek, some of Miguna’s relatives will be leaving for Nairobi on Wednesday night so that they can receive him at the airport on Thursday morning.
“Everyone is pleased. So many things happened when he was forced out of the country. We lost so many people. He told us that he would like to visit the deceased when he comes back,” he said.
He added that the family was deeply hurt when Miguna was deported and barred from the country over allegations that he was not a Kenyan. He however said that they have forgiven those who mistreated their brother.
He further shared details of Miguna’s first priorities after landing at JKIA.
“According to his program, he will come home straight because he would like to attend some funerals. My wife died while he was away. His father-in-law passed on while he was in Canada. So he would come home straight,” he said.
Earlier on, Miguna had said that his first responsibility after landing in the country was to ensure that he sends ODM leader Raila Odinga to Bondo on a wheelbarrow.
