President William Ruto joined Kenyans in marking one year since the launch of Hustler fund.
While giving his speech, Ruto said that the country’s economy has been controlled, a move that will see Kenya begin paying it’s debts as from December 2023.
According to him, this has been made possible because of the decisions that his administration has been making.
“Our first step of paying the debts that have been distressing us will begin next month, this December, to ensure that we put our country in sound economic footing. The challenges we had a year ago we were staring at debt distress.
“We were staring at a difficult moment, because of the decisions we have made over the last one year, today I can comfortably tell the nation that Kenya is now on a sound economic footing and trajectory and we are now on the way to making sure we respect all our commitments including all our debts so that we can get the nation moving,” Ruto said.
The move is also intended to ensure that Kenyans are proud of their country.
“We agreed that we will not have a nation that will leave others behind, when we are moving forward. We agreed that Kenya is for all Kenyans and we want a Kenya that Kenyans will be proud of. Our first job, we agreed that our economy was bad, we had a lot of debts as a nation, paying the debts was just a bad dream,” he said.
According to him, many Kenyans were wondering how the country will save itself from the situation.
The head of state said that the government is now in full control of the country’s economy and will surely fulfills its obligations.
“I want to announce that we have controlled our economy and as a nation we are ready to ensure that we fulfil all our debts and promises and will will ensure we have paid all our debts,” Ruto said.
