Wangui Ngirici To Defy Ruto If He Tells Her To Step Down For Waiguru

Date:

Kirinyaga Woman Representative Purity Wangui Ngirici on Tuesday weighed in on the decision of governor Ann Waiguru to ditch Jubilee in favor of Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

While speaking exclusively to Citizen TV, Purity Wangui Ngirici welcomed Ann Waiguru to UDA but gave her a stern warning that she is still determined to go for her seat and be the next Kirinyaga governor.

As a result, the philanthropic Wangui Ngirici promised to not only win the general elections but to also defeat Ann Waiguru with a landslide at the UDA nomination stage.

“There are about 10 people who have declared their interest in the gubernatorial race, and I know I will be joined by others in UDA, so I would like to say karibu to UDA to Governor Waiguru, that is where the future is. What she didn’t see, I saw many years ago. I knew what the people wanted,” said Ngirici.

“The governor lost her ground long time ago, immediately after she was elected, so it (her defection) doesn’t change anything. Actually, it just gives me less competition, because after nominations – and I know I will beat her – I’ll go and compete with fewer people.”

As a result, the woman rep vowed to defy any agent within the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) that tells her to step down for Waiguru including the deputy president himself. She argued that she has been very loyal to the party for the longest time unlike the incumbent who just joined UDA for convenience.

“Waliniambia nikuje Woman Rep? Si nilikuja kwa hiari yangu? So nitaendelea na ile ya ugavana, mtu akitaka nichange, yeye aende achange yake lakini mimi sitabadilisha …naendea ugavana, na nitaenda hadi mwisho,” she stated.

“I am loyal to UDA…I have remained loyal to UDA, even as Waiguru sold the BBI…and I know that loyalty pays.”

With regards to reports of Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho’s perceived influence in the Kirinyaga gubernatorial race, Ngirici made it clear that the permanent secretary is not running for any seat and the focus should be on development.

“Kibicho is not running for any seat, he has made it very clear…when I say I put Kirinyaga first, I think about development, I think about things that will help my people, it’s really not about the race, it’s more about our county,” she said.

“Kibicho is a Kirinyaga resident, so I need his vote and his family’s vote…so I don’t see any relationship with him that should change anything.”
