Anne Waiguru has been a married woman for the last two years but her husband is rarely seen in public with her, unlike other county first spouses.
The Kirinyaga governor got married to lawyer Kamotho Waiganjo in a traditional wedding that was held on July 13th 2019.
Waiguru opened up about her marriage to Waiganjo while speaking during an interview on NTV on Monday October 4th.
She explained why she does not move around with her husband, noting that he has taken a back seat on matters politics because he is not a politician.
However, Waiguru stressed that her husband has fully assumed his duty as Kirinyaga county’s First Gentleman and fully supports her administration in various ways when called upon to.
“Anafanya kazi yake kwa upande wa First Gentleman. Hii wikendi kama first spouses, walikuwa na programme ya health amabayo walikuwa waanzisha mwezi wa Cancer, alikuwa chief guest na ma first lady wale wengine wote walikuweko, anafanya kazi yake vile anaweza kuisaidia county, lakini yeye sio mwanasiasa kwa hivyo hawi kule mbele,” Waiguru said.
Waiguru also confessed that her marriage has so far been a bliss, she said that her glowing face and bright smile are evidence that she is happily married.
“Nadhani ukiniona kwa sura utajua… Ukiniona kutoka ile siku nilifunga ndoa hadi sasa utaona nimeongeza kidogo, iyo ni kumaanisha nina furaha, ukiniangalia sura ya tabasamu, kwa hivyo ndoa ni nzuri,” she said.
