A photo of President William Ruto and other African leaders including Tanzania president Samia Suluhu aboard a bus to Queen Elizabeth’s funeral in the United Kingdom has elicited mixed reactions among Kenyans and the rest of Africans.
Several people have accused the British people of racism after other white leaders were spotted arriving at the funeral venue in Westminster Abbey in their personal convoys including American President Joe Biden, who arrived in ‘The Beast’.
President Ruto has however been criticized widely by his opposers in the August 9 elections over his decision to attend the funeral.
“African Presidents carried in a hearse to go see the deceased Queen. How do you leave Kenya with all its problems to go see a corpse in London yet you claim that there’s no money in kenya!!!Hustlers mtajionea mambo. The puppet President,” Embakasi East MP Babu Owino said.
On the other hand, Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai claimed that Ruto was desperate to be seen attending the Queen funeral.
“The President in desperation to be seen at the funeral of a dynasty decided to even board a hearse. Sad to see a brother fight the dynasty then fall for it,” he said.
“You fought dynasties with all your might and soul .You are now spending millions of hustlers’ taxes just to bury the biggest dynasty in the world , in midst of hiked fuel prices ; Wonders will never cease,” Saboti MP Caleb Amisis said.
A netizen went ahead to claim that Ruto was tired after being ferried in the bus.

Former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko however condemned the whites for treating African presidents like that.
“Hawa wazungu hawana adabu wanawekaje marais wa Africa ndani ya bus moja huko London. God forbid kitu mbaya ifanyike kwa hiyo bus itakuaje?” he said.
