Victoria Muthoni Theuri was last seen on Christmas Day.
Victoria Muthoni Theuri, a student at Kenyatta University who vanished over the Christmas Day weekend, was discovered dead at her boyfriend’s house in the Kahawa Wendani neighborhood at Alvo House flats.
At Kenyatta University, Victoria Muthoni Theuri studied public policy and administration. She informed her parents, who reside in Kahawa Sukari, Kiambu county, that she would visit her sister on Christmas Day.
Her parents called her sister to see if she would be staying at her house or returning home when she didn’t come home that evening.
Her sister allegedly stated to the police that she had not seen her. Her phone was off when her parents tried to call her.
Victoria’s parents reported the incident to the Kahawa Sukari Police Station when she failed to get home on Boxing Day with her phone remained off.
Since then, it has come to light that she frequently spent time at Alvo House at her boyfriend’s apartment before returning home from school.
Over the Christmas holiday, the residents of Alvo House began smelling something awful coming from one of the closed house and informed the apartment’s caretaker who reported to the police.
On Thursday, police went to the residence and used welders to break down the door. Victoria’s body was discovered in the living room, unharmed.
She had to have been dead for at least three days, according to a police official involved in the investigations.
Victoria’s boyfriend left for his rural home, but he was found and arrested. He was taken to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) office in the Ruiru subcounty to be investigated.
On Christmas Day, the boyfriend claimed to have left Victoria at his house and gone to his parents’ place.
Police are currently investigating how the university student died.
